Olympia and Galileo walked through a doorway at one end of the lounge, where they encountered a fully-stocked bar – complete with a gynoid bartender!
Galileo could not believe his luck: “Heh, I thought the lounge was excellent, but add this great bar to it, and we have the perfect place to kick back and enjoy life here on Earth! We never had anything like this on Jonson Station, or at the Mars colony.” Olympia did not hesitate to nod in agreement.
“Would you like a refreshing drink?” asked the gynoid bartender. “Here on Earth we have the real stuff, not that synthetic booze found in those dives around the asteroid belt. Oh, and some tasty snacks too – how about a nice hot slice of pizza?”
Olympia provided some context: “By the way, Sarah mentioned this gynoid bartender to me during the trip back to Earth...apparently she's an early model, skilled in bartending but her conversation seems a bit limited. Sarah said the human Dr. Rival created her specifically for this facility, before he headed out to the asteroid belt...she's basically humanoid in form, but lacks the more advanced appearance and functionality of his later gynoid creations.”
“Moreover, along those same lines...Seaplane told me that, after Dr. Archibald Rival headed out to the asteroid belt to pursue his AI interests undisturbed, his sibling remained here on Earth, living in this penthouse until death. Thus Dr. Rival became the last surviving member of his family, and inherited the considerable family fortune. Eventually, the human Dr. Rival died as well, but only after uploading his mind to supercomputers...the two most prominent ones became the Jekyll Rival AI and the Hyde Rival AI, which of course we've encountered first hand. So...here we are, benefactors of that Rival wealth...but only after suffering the downsides of it as well. Ironic, isn't it?”
